Case Study:

iSpecc Provide UTC Aerospace Systems with Advanced Composite Heat Treatment Ovens, Delivering Unprecedented Temperature Uniformity, Efficiency & Performance.

iSpecc, in collaboration with SAT, a French and European leader of industrial ovens and furnaces, designed two composite material polymerization ovens for UTC Aerospace Systems (now Collins Aerospace) to manufacture aviation fuel pipes and drive shafts to exacting standards. Taking into account many aspects of the process requirements iSpecc/SAT delivered an unprecedented temperature uniformity performance.

A TEMPERATURE UNIFORMITY OF 1.5 DEGREES CELSIUS ACHIEVED

A full NADCAP/AMS compliant iSpecc iControl system including PID control and data recording and a facility for Temperature Uniformity Surveys is matched to a unique oven design and exceptional build quality.

The bespoke ovens included a material handling solution to provide the optimal positioning of the fuel pipes within a directional heated air flow whilst protecting the component with special polymers to ensure they are not damaged. The ovens achieve unprecedented temperature uniformity, allowing the fuel pipes to be heated both internally and externally, producing a high-quality component.

SAT composite curing ovens are also suitable for the production of parts for aeronautic or automotive industries.
